Eczema is a very common skin condition that affects one in every five children. We feel that with a little diligence, love and care, eczema can be easily treated without a prescription.
- Wash your hands to remove any irritants, fragrances or perfumes.
- Bathe in clean, warm water, avoiding soap.
- While skin is still damp, apply Organic Barrera (or Barrera Nut Free) by warming first in your clean hands and massaging it into child’s skin, especially rough patches and folded areas.
- Dress in 100% cotton clothing.
- Reapply morning and night and as often as possible.
Bath Frequency: During eczema flareups, we recommend limiting child’s baths to every three days and only 3-5 minutes.
Even after the symptoms disappear, continue to treat your child just like you did before to minimize flare-ups from occurring.

Should I choose Organic Barrera or Barrera Nut Free? If your child has a tree nut allergy, there is a history of tree nut allergies in the family, or your child has yet to be exposed to tree nuts, we recommend Barrera Nut Free as an alternative.
What is the difference Between the two? The two common ingredients are Organic Canadian Beeswax and Organic Cocoa Butter; Organic Barrera uses Organic Sweet Almond Oil and Barrera Nut Free uses quality Cold-pressed Grapeseed Oil. Both have wonderful anti-inflammatory properties, Barrera Nut Free is a slightly lighter product.
Patch Testing: It is recommended that any new products used on a child’s skin are patch tested first to look for any irritation or allergic reaction.
How do I properly patch test? Clean area on arm or leg with warm water (no soap), apply a small amount in a 1” area and observe over a 24 hour period, looking for redness or bumps. Irritation may take several hours to appear, an allergy (although rare) is likely to show immediately within the area.
